The E+PLC100 is a precision PLC (programmable logic controller) with the delight of a built-in touch screen human machine interface (HMI). The precision offered by the E+PLC400 means that less heat is required to complete a treatment for two reasons. Firstly overshoot is eliminated and secondly there is no need to allow a margin for instability of the control. Less heat means less distortion. Secondly Eurotherm's precision control also means a tighter and a more repeatable process so the distortion that still does occur will be consistent. Repeatable distortion is easier to both eliminate and offset. Reducing distortion means reducing costs.

Greater precision means being able to achieve finer tolerances through a more stable and therefore predictable treatment process. Eurotherm's precision control means temperatures are kept constant when they need to be and change, when required, in a more predictable repeatable way. Parts can then be thinner, lighter, more intricate, stronger or in many different ways superior. These better parts can then be sold at a premium compared with inferior ones made using conventional control algorithms.

What a control loop would ideally do is take the temperature to its ideal set point as quickly as possible and then keep it at that ideal. Ordinary control systems can be set up to be aggressive and to get to the set point quickly. They then overshoot the set point causing the work to be overheated and wasting energy.

Accurately tracing the exact profile is essential to delivering the exact heat treatment required by the process.
